A Domestic BER certificate is similar to the energy label for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient. From the 1st of January 2009 a BER certificate is compulsory for all homes being sold or rented. And all new homes must have a BER certificate before they are occupied, even when not for sale.
When we carry out a Building Energy Rating Assessment on your home we will also provide you with an advisory report which will outline recommendations on how you can improve the energy performance of your home.
Carrying out a BER assessment on your home will involve the following:
One of our SEI registered assessors will carry out a detailed survey taking into account the following information:
This information is then input into our software and analysed to produce a report and BER rating. You will be sent this BER certificate along with the advisory report. This certificate will be valid for 10 years from the date of its being issued unless there is a material change in the building which could affect its energy performance.
